Introducing Folkroom Matinées at Green Note

After two years of sporadic gigging, Folkroom are excited to be returning to live music again this March. As well as the return of our regular events in London and Brighton, we’re excited to be launching a new series of gigs at one of the capital’s most renowned folk venues: Green Note!
Folkroom Matinées at Green Note will see some of the most exciting talents in folk music performing at accessible, family-friendly events on the last Saturday afternoon of the month. We think it’s important that everyone gets a chance to discover great music, and the Folkroom Matinées will offer a relaxed and welcoming place to do just that!

Our first run of acts are a statement of our intent for the series – just because the gigs are in the middle of the afternoon, it doesn’t mean we’re going to pull our punches in bringing in some of the best acts in folk music today! From contemporary singer-songwriters like Jess Morgan and DG Solaris to international folk musicians like Amadou Diagne and icons of the genre such as Martin Carthy, these monthly events will quickly become an unmissable afternoon treat.
We’re hoping to see folk fans of all ages coming together to build upon the fabulous communities that both Folkroom and Green Note have respectively built over the last decade. Tickets for under 5s will be free, offering parents an opportunity to introduce children to the live music scene.
Our initial Folkroom Matinée events are available to be booked now:
April 30th – DG Solaris and Friends (support for Salt Moon)
May 28th – Jess Morgan (support TBA)
June 25th – Martin Carthy (support from Iona Lane and Thom Ashworth)
