Spring 2020 at the Toy Museum Folk Club

Our Toy Museum Folk Club gigs remain one of our most popular Folkroom events series, so we’re thrilled to announce our Spring 2020 season, which will run from February to May next year.
As ever, we’ve worked hard to pull together a fantastic and varied line-up that captures the British folk scene at its very finest. We have eight headliners joining us next spring, and a selection of wonderful support acts for you to discover alongside them as well.

We’re tremendously excited to host Edgelarks (formerly known as Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin) for an intimate 35-capacity show, as well as the first ever Brighton gig for Harp and a Monkey. The season also sees two return visits from former headliners – Ewan McLennan and Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith, both of whom sold out their last shows with us. We’ll also be welcoming local greats Naomi Bedford and Paul Simmonds, as well as upcoming folk talents Alden Patterson and Dashwood, Jenny Sturgeon and, as a double header, Kirsty Merryn and Said the Maiden.
As ever, our season sees plenty of support acts that we believe are worthy of discovery in their own right – we have recorder-playing genius Finn Collinson and singer-songwriter Phil King. We have big plans for 2020, and will be looking to highlight the thriving Sussex folk scene whenever we can – support slots from Hickory Signals, Ben & Alfie and Chalk Horse Music are certain to show off just what the county has to offer folk fans right now.

As ever, we’ll be welcoming our friend Chris Riddell to the gigs as our in-house artist, live illustrating the songs as they’re being performed. Chris is the Observer’s political cartoonist, a former children’s laureate and a wonderful author and illustrator – he’ll be along whenever his schedule allows, adding an extra element of magic to the evening.
