Folkroom is launching a new live music series of gigs – the Toy Museum Folk Club! We’re excited to have been given the opportunity to collaborate with Brighton Toy & Model Museum on this project, which will see us bring some of the finest folk musicians in Britain to their unique (and absolutely stunning) location beneath Brighton train station. Our aim is to bring to Brighton a friendly and inclusive take on the traditional folk club. We won’t have floor spots, and it’s unlikely there’ll be a raffle – but we will have a supportive and welcoming community ready to celebrate terrific folk talent! There’ll be a more distinct focus on traditional folk music at the Toy Museum Folk Club, as well as acts who have found inspiration in the genre and expanded upon it in their own original songwriting.

We are particularly proud to announce our first season of events at the folk club, which will run between August and November this year:

August 24th – Jess Morgan

September 7th – Jimmy Aldridge & Sid Goldsmith

September 22nd – Ewan McLennan

October 6th – Emily Mae Winters

November 9th – Mairearad & Anna

Our first round of acts is as varied as it is accomplished, and we’ll announcing some very special support acts shortly too. There’s plenty of wonderful folk music happening in Brighton, but we wanted to provide an opportunity for music fans that we didn’t feel was available in the city – the chance to watch terrific, talented acts in a magical and intimate venue. Brighton Toy and Model Museum is the perfect space for this, and allows for our audience to explore gorgeous displays of traditional hand-made toys and trains between sets.

With only 40 tickets available for each evening, these nights should quickly prove to be some of the most memorable live events around. Tickets are available for all the announced gigs already – just click on the links above to reserve your spot.
