It’s a very cheerful morning at Folkroom Towers, with the announcement that our very own Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker have been nominated for two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards!

Last year’s Folkroom-released ‘Nothing Can Bring Back The Hour’ has been nominated for the Best Album category, where it faces tough competition from The Rails, Nancy Kerr, Martin & Eliza Carthy and 9Bach. The award will be voted for by members of the public, with voting closing on February 13th. We would love your support for Josienne and Ben’s album! You can vote for them here.

The duo also are nominated for, well, Best Duo alongside prestigious competition in the form of O’Hooley & Tidow, Chris Whiles & Julie Matthews and Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar.

Josienne and Ben were nominated twice last year, too, for their album ‘Fire & Fortune’, but this marks the first time Folkroom Records has had a release nominated for the Folk Awards! We celebrated last night at our regular fortnightly gig, where the duo popped onstage for a surprise set, during which they played a mixture of old favourites, songs from their nominated album and a couple of new tunes, never before performed onstage. We know how to celebrate in style!
