Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker announce new album, out Oct 13th!
Folkroom Records are ecstatic to announce their latest release, Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker’s ‘Nothing Can Bring Back The Hour’, as well as a very special launch gig in London’s prestigious Southbank Centre.
The Radio 2 Folk Award-nominated act will be releasing their fourth LP on October 13th via Folkroom Records. It is, in many ways, a very special release for all of us, and a natural homecoming for Ben Walker, who co-founded the label three years ago.
Though ‘Nothing Can Bring Back The Hour’ marks the duo’s first full-length release on Folkroom, Josienne and Ben first worked with us on their ‘Homemade Heartache’ EP in 2012. Since then, the pair have seen the release of two LPs and been lauded with praise by the UK music press. Earlier this year they were nominated twice for the Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Now, we welcome back Josienne and Ben to Folkroom for what is undoubtedly their most sumptuous and innovative album to date. ‘Nothing Can Bring Back The Hour’ builds on the mix of traditional and original songs that the duo have made their name by, throwing in courageous new arrangements and Josienne’s trademark lyricism. They’re joined this time by renowned folk musicians including Jim Moray, Sam Brookes and members of the Red Clay Halo.
The result is a heart-wrenchingly beautiful record that once again announces Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker as two of the genre’s most significant rising stars. Naturally, Folkroom is going all out to celebrate the release of a record that is as much a welcome homecoming as it is a statement of intent!
On October 1st the duo will be launching the new album in a special concert in London’s legendary Southbank Centre. For one night only, the Purcell Room will play host to some of folk’s finest talents, as Josienne and Ben are joined onstage by a chamber ensemble and some very special musical guests.
