STOP! Folkroom time.

Yes – it’s Wednesday, it’s alternate, and that means an evening of wonder and delight at The Harrison! The warmest welcomes, the loveliest tunes and the talentedest (sic) musicians all adds up to the best free night in town, and one you can’t afford to miss.

But you can afford to come – because as always it’s free to get in! Make sure you come down early to bag a comfy chair (and a comfy pint).

Gracing the boards will be:

Forty Elephant Gang

Forty Elephant Gang are a rousing and innovative guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin wielding four piece from East London. Their songs relay tales of heartbreak, misdeeds and revelry, presented with rich harmonies on a textural musical canvas. It’s beautiful, playful, uplifting stuff that will make you smile like a loon. Fact.

Luke & Charlotte Ritchie

Identity is a theme common to many of Luke Ritchie’s songs, so it’s fitting that as a singer-songwriter he brings together so many diverse influences into such a compelling, epic folk-blues sound. In places his debut album The Water’s Edge nods to Nick Drake, John Martyn and even Soundgarden, but his voice is very much his own. Luke has recently joined forces with his sister Charlotte (another Fresh Meat alumna visiting the Folkroom!), so stunning harmonies are definitely on the cards…

Catherine Okada

Cathy Okada’s lovely folk-pop tunes are stories as much as songs, with an almost confessional sincerity that reels you in as soon as her dancing melodies hook your ears. Her full band shows are an absolute treat (we particularly like the mini-string section), so come on down, settle in and get comfy, and prepare to be treated!

Harry Harris

Harry Harris is, in his words, a “Welsh born, London based, storytelling songwriter, heavily into making stuff up”. An FA cup hero, a lost pilot whale and Elvis Presley all feature in this collection of tales, inspired by writers such as Warren Zevon, Craig Finn and Richard Yates. He’s brilliant, and we’re very glad to welcome him to the Folkroom so you can think he’s brilliant too.
