Patch and the Giant Sign With Folkroom!

A bright and cheerful start to both the new year and the week here at Folkroom Records, as we can announce that Patch and the Giant have signed with us and will be releasing their debut EP with us this Spring!

Since forming little over a year ago, Patch & The Giant have grown steadily and merrily in size, sound and following. Having firmly marked their place on the London music scene with a roaring monthly residency at the Boogaloo, The Sunday Fete, they have shared stages with several of the finest acts from the scene in London and the South East. They have already collaborated twice with Folkroom in co-hosting two sell-out gigs, as well as being featured on the label’s latest compilation, Anthology Two. They made their debut on the UK festival circuit in 2012, including Watchet Festival and Festibelly (both nominated for Best Grass Roots Festival at the UK Festival Awards).

Their infectious brand of ‘rough-edged folk’ (Time Out) is built on a bed of string, brass and accordion-fuelled sound, thus described by For Folk’s Sake: ” These lovely people never fail to impress with their energy, not to mention their ability to get the whole room on their feet and dancing, an admittedly rare phenomena to come across these days”.

We’re absolutely ecstatic and intensely proud to announce Patch’s signing with us – since we met last Spring they have become close friends and intense supporters of everything we do, and 2013 was always going to feature collaborations between us in some form. There’ll be much more news on Patch and the Giant in the coming months as we record and produce their debut EP, have them play our gigs and generally hype them up to you all in the months leading up to May, when the EP is due for release.

Keep an eye on Patch and the Giant – before long they’ll be everywhere you look!
